Pitah

The Pitah , Hebrew פִּתָּה or פיתה, is a type of bread leavened flat round soft color

clear, a little 'bloated and empty inside.


Ingredients

  • 1 cube of yeast;
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar;
  • 2 1 \\ 2 cups of warm water
  • 3 cups flour;
  • 1 1 \\ 2 cups flour Manitoba (or white);
  • 2 teaspoons salt;
  • 2 tablespoons Oil extra virgin olive oil .

Preparation

Combine yeast, one cup water and sugar (or honey) in a bowl and let stand for 10 minutes in a warm place, until the mixture becomes frothy.

Add the other ingredients and knead to

hand or, if you want a mixer, the mixture.

Stir the mixture until it becomes smooth and elastic, at least 10 minutes.

Divide the dough into 12 portions, roll each portion into a thick disc 5 mm , and let it rest for an hour instead hot.

discs Bake at 250 degrees and cook for 4-5 minutes (if you are too dry, brush again with water before baking), or Pitah use the pot (see photo).


Note: 1 cup of flour or sugar equals 160 grams, 1 cup of liquid equals 250 ml.
